Mid-Process Thoughts
I tried a lot of things here, mainly in the way of portraying the cheese. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to show it as an outline, fade it out, or do something else entirely. That’s where my main focus was at first, until I decided to scrap that altogether.
I shifted my focus into a more type-based design and created the small “friends” that would be tacked along as decorations. Initially the creatures were different colors, but I got the feeling that leaving them in black would help with the theme; everyone’s imaginary friends when they were little looked different, so I didn’t want to give them too many qualities that would detract from the personal touch that the friends are supposed to have.
Final Look
Reflection
I wanted to bring a little bit of whimsy with this project, especially with its name being a play on words. The “friends” characters went through many renditions before I finally settled in a primarily black & white palette to help them blend in. It’s a nod, of course, toward those imaginary friends we remember in our childhood.
